Implementation of the Briefing and Symbolic Send-Off of the Student Team for the Student Impact Program: Community Empowerment in Disaster Impact Recovery in Sumatra, 2026

Medan — The Institute for Community Service of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) assigned a team of lecturers and students under the Student Impact Program to attend and participate in the Briefing and Symbolic Send-Off of the Student Impact Program Student Team: Community Empowerment in Disaster Impact Recovery in Sumatra, 2026, which was held at the Auditorium Building of Universitas Negeri Medan (Unimed) on January 28, 2026.

The implementation of the briefing and send-off activity aimed to provide initial preparation for the student team prior to the execution of the program at the designated locations, as well as to serve as an official symbolic send-off marking the departure of the student team in support of disaster recovery efforts in the Sumatra region.

The lecturer team and, in particular, the student team involved in the Student Impact Program will be stationed at the designated locations for one (1) month to carry out the work programs that were previously proposed through the Student Impact Program Proposal submitted to the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek). The student team will officially commence activities following the send-off ceremony, starting from January 28 to February 28, 2026.

It is expected that the presence of students in the designated locations—areas affected by natural disasters—will help support and accelerate the recovery process through targeted interventions, as well as the application of technology and innovation implemented by the student team through the execution of the Student Impact Program activities.
