Universitas Sumatera Utara Community Service Institute carried out the Launching of the Community Service Program in Humbang Hasundutan Regency with the theme of the activity being Hydrometeorological Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation in the Lake Toba Water Catchment Area (DTA) through a Collaborative Approach (Modelling Humbang Hasundutan Regency). This activity was held on Thursday 4 July 2024 at the Bukit Inspirasi Pendopo Hall, Dolok Sanggul.
This activity was attended by the Chair of USU LPPM Prof. Tulus, along with the Implementing Lecturer of Community Service activities carried out in Humbang Hasundutan Regency. In accordance with the thematic of this activity, an activity implementation team has been established consisting of 2 (two) Assisted Village activities and 8 (eight) Community Service activities with the theme of Disaster Mitigation.
The implementation of this activity is a form of attention and concern from Universitas Sumatera Utara towards the impacts caused by natural disasters that previously occurred in several areas in Humbang Hasundutan Regency. Therefore, the area of implementation of the Thematic Community Service Program activities is carried out in the affected areas.
It is hoped that this Community Service activity will be implemented in Humbang Hasundutan Regency, especially in areas where natural disasters have previously occurred. This activity will help the recovery process in the affected areas, and can help increase public understanding to prevent natural disasters from occurring again in the future.
Also, during the implementation of this activity, a Cooperation Agreement (MoA) was also signed between the Community Service Institution and the Regional Government of Humbang Hasundutan Regency. So with this Cooperation Agreement it will be possible to improve the implementation of other activities in the future.
