The event was officially opened by UMRAH Vice Rector II, Dr. Tengku Said Raza'i, S.Pi., M.P., at the Raja Ali Haji Maritime University (UMRAH) Building.

In his remarks, Dr. Tengku Said Raza'i, S.Pi., M.P., expressed his high appreciation for the West Region State Universities Association (BKS PTN), which he said has had a significant impact on developing cooperation between state higher education institutions in western Indonesia.

"The West Region State Universities Association (BKS PTN) has a strong legacy, footprint, and impact on me. Among regional cooperation institutions, we are among the most vibrant," he said.

Dr. Tengku Said Raza'i, S.Pi., M.P., emphasized that the collaborative spirit espoused by the West Region State Universities Association (BKS PTN) is a key strength in building productive synergy. According to him, compared to a competitive approach, collaboration is far more beneficial, both for institutional development and improving the quality of education.

"Our approach in the West is more collaborative. We believe that collaboration is more powerful than competition. Every activity is always initiated and developed together," he continued.

The forum also highlighted the importance of impactful research collaboration and the development of community service programs. He stated that over the past five years, the West PTN BKS has demonstrated a significant role, including in the opening of new study programs and mentoring between universities. The LPPM Chairpersons Forum hopes that this forum will be able to design strategic steps so that member universities of the West BKS can synergize in obtaining research grants and other funding. The Chairperson of the FKLPPM BKS PTN Barat, Mrs. Sri Lestari Wahyuningroem, Ph.D., hopes that this activity will not only provide information, but also encourage and strengthen our position for collaboration.
