Medan – The Institute for Community Service (LPPM) at Universitas Sumatera Utara held a Technical Guidance (BIMTEK) session on submitting Community Service proposals funded by the Directorate of Research, Technology, and Community Service (DRTPM) for the 2023 fiscal year.

The BIMTEK session occurred on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Hotel Putra Mulia, Gatot Subroto Street, Medan. The event was opened by the Secretary of LPPM USU, Dr. Meutia Nauly, S.Psi., M.Si., Psikolog. In her remarks, she emphasized that the event aimed to help participants develop proposals that comply with the guidelines set by DRTPM. The session hoped to increase the number of funded Community Service proposals, totalling ten in the previous year, and encourage faculty members to submit proposals within the set timeline while avoiding administrative errors that could disqualify submissions during the initial selection phase.

The BIMTEK session featured two national-level reviewers from Universitas Sumatera Utara: Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti, M.Si., and Prof. Muhammad Basyuni, S.Hut., M.Si., Ph.D. They provided insights on the proposal submission process and critical points to consider to avoid proposal rejection, particularly in ensuring complete administrative requirements.

The participants were divided into two groups for a focused coaching session with the speakers. Prof. Muhammad Basyuni coached the first group, which focused on Community Service schemes with a maximum duration of eight months (Single-Year Schemes). Prof. Dr. Ir. Elisa Julianti guided the second group, which focused on multi-year community service schemes exceeding one year.

As a follow-up, LPPM USU committed to assisting faculty members who required support in the proposal submission process until the final deadline set by DRTPM.
