Medan – The Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) participated in the 2026 Seminar on the Impact of the Student Impact Program: Community Empowerment in Post-Disaster Recovery in Sumatra. USU was represented by Dr. Muhammad Taufik, S.Si., M.Si., together with a team of students from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. The seminar was held at Universitas Prima Indonesia from July 1–3, 2026.

The seminar was organized by the Directorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM) under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) in collaboration with Universitas Prima Indonesia. As part of the program, participating teams were required to present and exhibit the outcomes of the community empowerment projects they had previously implemented.

To recognize outstanding achievements, the organizing committee presented several awards to participating teams. On this occasion, the Universitas Sumatera Utara delegation received two national awards:
- Best Community Empowerment Impact and Innovative Technology Implementation Award – Silver Medal
- Grand Award for the Best Student Impact Program – Bronze Medal
