MEDAN, Applying Science, Technology and Arts (IPTEKS) in developing catfish production, for the safety and comfort of animal food for families in Sijabut Teratai Village in Air Batu District, Asahan Regency, is an activity held by the USU Community Service Institute (LPPM), Sunday (28/07).
This community service activity is chaired by Prof. Dr. Dra. Irnawati Marsaulina, MS, with members namely Ir. Revandy Iskandar Muda Damanik, MSi, MSc, PhD, and Dr. dr. Tasrif Hamdi, M. Ked (An), Sp. An TI, Subsp. MN (K) and three students of the Faculty of Public Health, University of North Sumatra (FKM USU), Dorkas Sinaga, Rosa Saragih, and Avelyn Silaban also participated in this activity.
This community service provides education with material on catfish fisheries and cultivation, by Asprin Tamba Spi, MSi as a resource person.
The implementation of this community service was attended by the Team Leader, team members, and partners with a total of 20 participants from the Teratai Jaya Farm Fish Farming Workers Group in Sijabut Teratai Village in Air Batu District, Asahan Regency.
The activity began with the handover of assistance in the form of catfish seed production facilities to partners, including tarpaulin, a driving machine for pellet printing, a chopper, and certified catfish broodstock.
In her remarks, Prof. Dr. Dra. Irnawati Marsaulina, MS as the head of the Community Service Team introduced herself and her team and explained the purpose of this community service activity.
"The implementation of this community service activity is a Health Theme Community Service organized by the USU Community Service Institute (LPPM), with the activity title Application of Science and Technology for Catfish Production Development for Animal Food Safety and Comfort for Families in Sijabut Teratai Village, Air Batu District, Asahan Regency," said Prof. Irnawati.
Furthermore, the Community Service Team and Partners and members together saw the condition of the fish seed business and took a group photo. After that, it was continued with material presented by resource person Asprin Tamba SPi, MSi.
Partners were given education on how to apply IPTEKS in developing catfish production, utilizing the potential of available catfish, and providing online product marketing training.
This community service activity was closed with closing remarks from the head of the community service, "Through this activity, we hope that you as catfish farming workers can gain knowledge and skills in developing catfish production that is safe for consumption, and are able to market products online. The application of IPTEKS is expected to make you more independent in meeting the need for high-quality animal food in order to improve children's nutrition in the family," he said.
