Implementation of the Assisted Village Program in Habeahan Village, Lintong Nihuta Sub-district, Humbang Hasundutan Regency

A socialization activity on the use of Biopore Drills was carried out as part of the Assisted Village Program by the Community Service Institute of Universitas Sumatera Utara. This activity reflects Universitas Sumatera Utara’s concern regarding the natural disasters that occurred in the area at the end of 2023.

Based on this, the Community Service Institute of Universitas Sumatera Utara organized a Hydrometeorological Disaster Mitigation program in water catchment areas around Lake Toba, with one of these areas designated as an Assisted Village by the institute in Habeahan Village, Lintong Nihuta Sub-district, Humbang Hasundutan Regency.

As part of the disaster mitigation efforts, a socialization activity on the use of Biopore Drills was conducted, which can be used by the community to help increase the capacity for rainwater infiltration into the ground. This is one of the measures to support hydrometeorological disaster mitigation. The Biopore Drills provided on this occasion were donated by the North Sumatra Watershed Forum (Forum DAS Sumut).

On this occasion, the event also included the distribution of 4,000 MPT (Multipurpose Tree Species) seedlings—such as Sugar Palm, Avocado, Cinnamon, Coffee, Mahogany, and Red Shoot—provided by BPDAS Asahan Barumun, as well as 200 Genjah Sugar Palm seedlings, which were handed over to the community represented by the Habeahan Village Government.
