Humbahas, The Humbang Hasundutan (Humbahas) Regency Government together with the University of North Sumatra (USU) launched the Thematic PKM (community service) program for Hydrometeorological Disaster Mitigation and Adaptation, at the Pendopo Bukit Inspirasi Doloksanggul, Thursday (4/7).
Dr. Oding Affandi as the coordinator of the PKM implementation explained that the activity was carried out in Baktiraja and Lintongnihuta Districts, and involved 48 lecturers from various institutions at USU.
"This activity will last for 7 months, hopefully it will be beneficial for the community according to expectations. During the implementation period, it is hoped that input and support from the community will be received," said Oding.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between the USU LPPM (Community Service Institute) and Simangulampe Village regarding the 2024 USU LPPM fostered village program. The cooperation agreement was signed by the Head of USU LPPM Prof. Tulus Ph.D and the Head of Simangulampe Village, Lambok Simanullang.
General Administration Assistant, Tua Marsatti Marbun representing the Regent of Humbahas, warmly welcomed the launching of the PKM implementation.
"The implementation of disaster management is a manifestation of the government's function in providing protection to the community," said Tua Marsatti.
The Humbahas Regency Government has implemented several forms of mitigation, including socialization of disaster risk reduction, strengthening regional capacity for prevention and preparedness through the formation of Destana (Disaster Resilient Village), training on prevention and mitigation of disasters in the district including structural mitigation of physical development in the prevention function.
Collaboration between the government and stakeholders including USU is very important in anticipating integrated disasters in Humbahas Regency.
"With this launch, it is hoped that it can provide additional responses or contributions as an effort to optimize the implementation of central and regional programs in order to improve the quality of disaster management," concluded Marsatti.
Also present at the launch were the Head of the Environment Agency Halomoan Simanullang, the Head of the PMDP2A Agency Maradu Napitupulu, the Head of BPBD Benthon Lumbangaol, the Head of Baktiraja Sanggam Lumbangaol Sub-district, the Secretary of Lintongnihuta Sub-district Bahara Hutasoit, and related agencies from the North Sumatra Provincial Government.
