MEDAN, The Community Service Team (Pemas), namely lecturers from the University of North Sumatra (USU), carried out community service (PKM) in Lumban Gaol Village, Balige District, Toba Regency on Saturday (13/7) and this service activity was funded by the USU Community Service Institute (LPPM).
The Pemas Team in this service activity were Dr. Nauas Domu Marihot Romauli, STP, MEng, Prof. Dr. Himsar Ambarita, ST MT, Ir. Terip Karo-karo, MS, and Hendrik Voice Sihombing, ST MT. The Pemas Team also involved several students from the Faculty of Agriculture including Mhd. Rayhan Aulia Nasution, Marzuki Hidayat, Juan Manuel Hulu, Annisa Fadriah Aritonang, and Edelyna N.S.
On that occasion, the team provided assistance in the form of tools and goods which were handed over directly by the USU Pemas Team to residents Nurlinda Simanjutak and Guntar Tambun as MSME owners. The assistance was provided as an effort to resolve production problems experienced by the MSME.
"The tools and machines provided as assistance by the team include one unit of stainless steel ampia machine with a capacity of 20-25 kg/hour equipped with 3 blades measuring 2, 3, and 6 mm, 2 stoves with burners and hoses, 2 stainless steel pans with a diameter of 80 cm, 12 stainless steel trays measuring 60 x 40 cm, 1 glass blender, 1 3-tier steamer pan with a diameter of 36 cm, and 1 large and small frying scoop each to increase the efficiency and production capacity of the Bramstam MSME," said Romauli representing the USU Pemas team, Saturday (13/7).
Through this activity, Romauli hopes that the tools provided can help partners overcome problems during the production process, especially in solutions to increasing production capacity which is constrained by the number and efficiency of previously minimal tools.
In addition, Romauli also hopes that the equipment and counseling provided can increase the skills of Partners and improve the implementation of hygiene and sanitation in the production room, especially in the tools used in the process of making MSME products. The condition of equipment that is old, damaged or unusable can affect the quantity and quality of production results.
In addition, this Pemas activity can also increase sales of various products in the MSME such as onion bread, andaliman-flavored cassava chips, spicy cassava chips, sweet cassava chips, brown sugar sasagun, original sasagun, and fruit crackers can be accelerated the manufacturing process and maintain the product in good condition so that it can maximize the amount of production which can have a positive impact on the income generated by the Bramstam MSME.
Given assistance in the form of tools to support the production process of their business, MSME owners, namely Nurlinda Simanjuntak and Guntar Tambunan expressed their gratitude to the USU Pemas team.
"We thank the USU Pemas team for the assistance provided. We hope that the assistance provided can improve the development of our MSMEs," said Guntar Tambunan, Saturday (13/07) as the owner of MSME Bramstam.
As additional information, several MSME Bramstam products, including fruit chips and onion chips, still use manual grinders which take a long time to make dough sheets so that the production capacity cannot be met. With assistance from USU, one of which is a grinding machine with the appropriate blade size can be used as a technology that helps shorten the production process time of these products.
