MEDAN. Collaboration to build a village, Lecturer of Public Administration Science, FISIP USU accompanied the Preparation of strategic planning for Tourism Village in Tiang Layar Village, Pancur Batu District, Deli Serdang Regency, Thursday (22/8) carried out Community Service.
The implementation of the community service activity chaired by Dr. Drs. Mohammad Ridwan, MA with the Community Service Team Prof. Dr. Marlon Sihombing, MA. The activity was carried out through the preparation of a document on the direction of village development with strategic planning.
"This activity collaborates with the Tiang Layar Village Government, involving all village officials, Karang Taruna, BUMDES administrators of Dokan Village and the local community as participants," said Saipul Bahri, S.I.P., M.Sos as an implementing member.
According to Saipul Bahri, S.I.P., M.Sos, the community service program supported and funded by the USU Community Service Institute (LPM USU) is a form of responsibility of universities and lecturers in providing understanding to village communities as a real form of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
Furthermore, the preparation of this strategic planning Document is a form of real contribution of lecturers in regional development starting from the village, this is very important considering that the backbone of national development lies in regional development in the village. The village government must be a pioneer in accelerating development in the region, especially areas that have tourism potential such as those in Deli Serdang Regency.
Previously, Deli Serdang Regency was designated as one of the areas with many tourist destinations in North Sumatra, one of the supporting villages in tourism development is located in Tiang Layar Village, Pancur Batu District.
"If we refer to the data, the tourist destination of Tiang Layar Village is very unique, because this village is flanked by rivers that have their own advantages, the water is clean, clear, and the river flow has 2 corners as its uniqueness," said Saipul Bahri.
According to him, the beautiful scenery, surrounded by langsat, mangosteen, coconut, banana and other plants is a combination that is very soothing to the eyes when crossing to the tourist destination, but with the advantages of this destination, it turns out that the community has not been able to maximize it to improve its economy.
This condition shows the importance of a realistic policy regulation in facing the challenges of village development, the direction of modern village development should not only be on physical development, but also increasing human resource knowledge, preserving history through tourism which is a special attraction in Tiang Layar Village.
"The Tiang Layar Village Government will certainly be the backbone of the economy in Tiang Layar Village, therefore it is necessary to provide education in terms of preparing a Strategic Plan for the Development of Tourism Villages," concluded Saipul Bahri.
Meanwhile, the Village Head on behalf of Arapenta, said that the Community Service activity of LPM USU was clearly a real contribution, that a University like USU, was present in the midst of the community, helping the village government from its impasse.
"To answer this impasse, USU lecturers are present to provide knowledge, to open the minds of the community to the potential of Tiang Layar Village," he said.
Furthermore, he said that in forming the spirit of development of Tiang Layar Village as one of the efforts to drive the economy in the midst of a downturn, it must synergize with all existing elements such as USU.
With the presence of this community service activity, hopefully it can provide increased knowledge and development in Tiang Layar Village to become a Tourism Village that has innovation, creativity in realizing a progressive Tiang Layar Village.
Involve Young Lecturers
In this community service activity, the team involved a young lecturer in Political Science, FISIP USU, Saipul Bahri, S.I.P., M.Sos who focuses on the study of Political Development.
The theme presented is very relevant amidst the current conditions of regional development. He also often provides political and entrepreneurship education to students and becomes a companion in the Student Program, Training and Funding competitions.
The material presented in the service program for the preparation of the Strategic Plan for the Development of Tourism Villages in Tiang Layar Village is related to Human Resources, Natural Potential, Economic Potential through the role of BUMDES Tiang Layar Village and Local Wisdom History from the existence of tourist destinations that attract tourists.
Building synergy-collaboration with stakeholders is a must in responding to development challenges in the region.
