NIAS UNIVERSITY LECTURERS IMPROVE RESEARCH PROPOSAL SKILLS

Nias University (UNIAS) received a breath of fresh air to improve the quality of its lecturers' research. The University of North Sumatra (USU) - Medan, held intensive training on compiling research proposals for dozens of UNIAS lecturers. The activity, which was held in the Unias Campus Hall, is part of the USU Community Service Program (PkM) or Abdimas with a partnership scheme. The goal is clear, to increase the capacity of UNIAS lecturers in producing competitive and quality research proposals. The USU PkM Team, led by Prof. Dr. Endang Sulistya Rini, S.E., M.Si., was present as a resource person and provided the lecturers with various crucial materials. The topics covered include:

"Creating Effective and Compelling Research Proposals" (Prof. Dr. Endang Sulistya Rini, S.E., M.Si),

"Exploring Original Research Ideas Based on Local Potential" (Prof. Dr. Yeni Absah, S.E., M.Si), "Qualitative Approaches and Methods in Research" (Prof. Dr. R. Hamdani Harahap, M.Si), "Ethical Use of AI Technology" (Prof. Saharman Gea, M.Si., Ph.D), "Scientific Research Ethics" (Dr. Fotarisman Zaluchu, S.K.M, M.Si., M.P.H).

The Acting Rector of UNIAS, Delipiter Lase, S.E., M.Pd, emphasized the importance of this activity in his remarks. "A good research proposal is key to securing research funding. We want UNIAS lecturers to be able to compete at the national and global levels, so they can develop science and provide real benefits to society," he emphasized. The speakers also provided direct guidance through a workshop on presenting draft proposals ready for submission. Unsurprisingly, the approximately 100 participants appeared enthusiastic in participating in the training from morning to evening. One lecturer admitted that he had previously struggled to determine research topics and gaps, as well as completing the format and requirements requested by the research organizing institution. "Through this training, we gained new insights, including tips for highlighting the novelty and usefulness of research in proposals," he said. This PkM activity is expected to boost the quality of research and scientific publications by UNIAS lecturers. Furthermore, it is also hoped that the number of research proposals that are approved for funding by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology and other funding institutions will increase significantly.
