Binjai - Improving community knowledge and skills and empowering natural potential, lecturers from the Faculty of Pharmacy together with lecturers from the Faculty of Economics and Business USU held community service in the Rambung Dalam Village Hall, Binjai, North Sumatra, Thursday (8/8).
In the service, the lecturers assisted by students provided counseling on making antioxidant herbal tea from rambutan and lemon skin. In addition, the community was also provided with marketing and business plan materials.
Chief Executive Muhammad Fauzan Lubis S.Farm M.Farm. Apt. said that the purpose of the service was to improve community knowledge and skills and empower natural potential. Namely, rambutan and lemon become innovative products that are efficacious and of high value, in the form of antioxidant herbal tea.
In addition, in order to increase the income of the local community. Community service for USU Talenta, a community partnership scheme in 2024, is to improve cooperation between USU and the community. In this case, it is in the form of community service and supporting USU's own work program, related to the implementation of the Tridharma of Higher Education which must be carried out by lecturers, one of which is community service.
On this occasion, he continued, there was also a direct practice of making antioxidant herbal tea from rambutan and lemon skin. "Hopefully the knowledge and skills provided are useful and can be passed on to the participants to their families and the community," he hoped.
The implementing member of Embun Suci Nasution SSi. M.Farm.Klin. Apt. added that in the community service, education was also provided on branding the profession of pharmacists, education related to antioxidants, the use of rambutan and lemon as herbal antioxidant tea, as well as marketing and business plan materials presented by Adika Fajar Putra, S.E.I., M.M, Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business USU.
In the activity, the committee provided handouts and brochures for participants to read which were then given to families to read at home. To attract the attention of participants, the committee also held door prizes and gave souvenirs.
Also giving a speech, the Head of Rambung Dalam Village, Binjai City, Rendro Masetio SH. expressed his gratitude for the trust given to Rambung Dalam Village, Binjai City to become a partner in community service with the hope of working together in the future.
The community service was also assisted by three students from the Pharmacist Education Study Program, Faculty of Pharmacy USU, namely Murobbi, S.Farm, Nur Azizah S.Farm. and Qurrata Aini S.Farm. and four USU Pharmacy undergraduate students namely Surya Perdana Gultom, Zarina Charunnisa, Feby Aisha A. Harahap, and Muhammad Khairul Fikri.
