PT Arutmin Indonesia Kintap Mine has signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Terbuka (UT) and Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) to implement community service programs in Lingkar Tambang Village.
The signing ceremony took place at Port Arutmin Kintap, Mekarsari Village, Tanahlaut, South Kalimantan, on Wednesday, June 5, 2024.
This cooperation aims to collaborate through various community service programs covering education, health, environment, and economic empowerment targeting communities around the mining area.
The PKS signing was attended by the Head of Mining Engineering at Arutmin Kintap, Lutfi Qolbirokhim; Chair of LPPM Universitas Sumatera Utara, Prof. Dr. Tulus, M.Si.; and Head of the Community Service Center at Universitas Terbuka, Dra. Yusrafiddin, M.Si., along with their teams..
In his speech, Lutfi Qolbirokhim conveyed that this cooperation is a concrete manifestation of PT Arutmin Indonesia Kintap Mine’s commitment to participate in improving the welfare of communities around its operational areas.
“We hope that through synergy with Universitas Terbuka and Universitas Sumatera Utara, the various programs carried out will have positive and sustainable impacts,” he said.
Prof. Dr. Tulus, M.Si., added that Universitas Sumatera Utara always strives to provide tangible contributions to the community.
“Through this cooperation, we will deploy lecturers to participate in various community service programs that have been designed according to the needs of communities around the mine,” he added.
Meanwhile, according to Dra. Yusrafiddin, M.Si., Head of the Community Service Center at Universitas Terbuka, collaboration with PT Arutmin Indonesia Kintap and LPPM Universitas Sumatera Utara is a strategic step in supporting community development.
“We are committed to continuously supporting and educating the community so they can become more independent and prosperous,” she added.
With this cooperation, it is expected that various community service programs can run smoothly and provide maximum benefits to the communities around the mining area.
The programs to be implemented include skills training, improving access to education, enhancing public health, as well as sustainable environmental programs.
