The BNKP Sundermann Nias Theological College (STT) received an injection of valuable knowledge from the Community Service Team (PkM) / Abdimas of the University of North Sumatra (USU) Medan, through intensive training in writing reputable international journals, Thursday (8/8/2025). This activity aims to improve the ability of lecturers in producing scientific works that are able to compete in the global arena. Held in the STT BNKP Sundermann Nias Hall, this training was attended by all teaching staff from two study programs, as well as final year students. USU presented a team of experts who also acted as resource persons, including Prof. Saharman Gea, Ph.D (Research Ethics & Scientific Writing), Prof. Dr. R. Hamdani Harahap, M.Si (Anthropological Research Issues), and Dr. Fotarisman Zaluchu, SKM, M.Si, MPH (Writing Social-Humanities Articles). Prof. Endang Sulistya Rini, S.E., M.Si. contributed their expertise to this training.
"The speakers, guided by Fidelis Zai, S.Pd, M.Si (a young lecturer in Mathematics at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, USU), emphasized scientific publication as the key to developing science and increasing institutional competitiveness at the global level," explained the committee in a press release to reporters. Rev. Gustav Gabriel Harefa, M.Th (Vice Chair II of the STT BNKP Sundermann Nias), representing the Chair of the STT, expressed his deep appreciation for the initiative of the USU Community Service Team (Abdimas). He hoped this training would encourage STT lecturers to produce internationally recognized scientific works and contribute to the development of theological science and education more broadly. "We have high hopes that our lecturers will be able to publish in reputable international journals, bring honor to STT BNKP Sundermann Nias, and make a tangible contribution to the advancement of science," he said.
The enthusiasm of the participants, both lecturers and students, was evident. They said they gained new insights and high motivation to write and publish their research results in leading international journals.
The event concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, group discussions, and assignments to draft articles, which will be guided through until they are ready to be submitted to their chosen journals.
This training is expected to not only enhance the reputation of STT BNKP Sundermann Nias but also equip the lecturers with essential skills for writing high-quality international publications.
