The University of North Sumatra (USU), through its Community Service (PkM) team, held ABDIMAS 2025 with the theme "Increasing Income and Diversifying Export-Import Markets Through Local Collaboration and International Marketing Innovation" in Sinaman II Village, Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025. This activity involved lecturers, students, local business owners, and the local community.
The PkM team, led by Dr. Muhammad Arifin Nasution, S.Sos., M.SP., along with members Dr. Hatta Ridho, S.Sos., MSP, and Dr. Dra. Sri Alem Br. Sembiring, M.Si., provided training and mentoring on income-increasing strategies, business management, and international marketing opportunities. The program also included the distribution of production equipment to partner groups to support business quality and capacity improvement. Field activities were assisted by Afrila Mulyati Siregar, S.AB., M.AB., and Franklin Asido Rossevelt, S.AP., M.K.P., as well as students from the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) at USU, who actively provided direct assistance.
In his remarks, Dr. Muhammad Arifin emphasized that this community service program was not merely a transfer of knowledge, but also a concrete effort to empower the community to become economically independent.
"We hope that collaboration between universities, businesses, and the community can open wider market access, including export markets," he said. In addition to technical training, participants also received materials on digital-based marketing innovation, product packaging techniques, and small business financial management.
The Sinaman II Village community welcomed this program, as it is expected to increase the competitiveness of local products in the global market.
The ABDIMAS program aligns with USU's mission to implement the Tri Dharma of Higher Education, particularly in aspects of community service that support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
