MEDAN - The Community Service Institute (LPPM) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) implemented a community service program with the theme of partnership service (2024) at SMA Negeri 1 Medan, Saturday (21/9).
Taking the theme of digital modeling of energy efficiency design at the Ibnu Sina Mosque of SMAN 1 Medan, it was attended by the Head of Community Service, Partnership Service 2024, Muhammad Dolok Lubis, ST, M.Sc who is also an instructor, along with Ir. Hilma Tamiami Fachrudin, ST, M.Sc, Ph. D, Yulesta Putra, ST, M.Sc and Amy Marisa, ST, M.Sc, Ph.D.
In his presentation, Dolok Lubis stated that towards the 2045 era, encouraging the implementation of green buildings as part of green infrastructure in Indonesia, must be started now and applied by the younger generation.
‘Green or environmentally friendly buildings will minimize the use of electrical energy and realize the golden Indonesia in 2045 in the hands of the current young generation,” he said.
He explained that digital modeling is the process of using technology and digital tools that involve the use of computer software to create visual representations and design simulations before the production or implementation stage. This process includes creating 2D and 3D shapes to create the desired object.
“Arrangement in the context of energy refers to the arrangement and optimization of energy use to increase efficiency and reduce consumption,” he added.
Energy efficiency is saving energy, but it does not mean reducing all activities related to energy use that have an impact on reducing the quality of life, but also saving energy by maximizing the use of available energy according to needs.
“The lighting system is very important in saving energy. While the mosque building is one of the buildings that consumes a lot of energy. Energy efficiency steps are needed to reduce energy consumption,” he said.
For this reason, it is necessary to plant trees or green walls in the front area of the building that is exposed to sunlight from the west. Then the use of reflective paint or roofs made of materials that reflect sunlight.
'The use of light-colored ceramics such as white and the use of an insulating layer behind the ceramics can help reduce excess heat absorption," he said.
Previously, representing the Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Medan, Yaslima stated that the theory presented in the community service activity was very good for the younger generation, so that it can be applied later," he said.
