(Medan) — Lecturers of the Indonesian Literature Study Program (Prodi) Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) carried out community service at Madrasah Al Muntanzir, Friday (6/14/2024). The Head of the Community Service Team, Dra. Rosliana Lubis, M.Sc., explained that the community service was carried out in the context of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
"This community service targets the 4th goal, namely Quality Education which guarantees inclusive and equitable quality education and increases lifelong learning opportunities for all," she said.
Dr. Gustianingsih explained that in addition to targeting the SDGs, this community service also targets the Higher Education Key Performance Indicators (IKU), namely IKU 2 and IKU 3.
IKU 2 focuses on students gaining experience outside the campus and IKU 3 in the form of lecturers doing activities outside the campus. Both IKUs will certainly have an impact on the experience and development of students and the intellectual practice of teachers to the community.
Member of the Community Service Team Emma Marsella, S.S., M.Si., added that the implementation of this training is about the use of social media in building portfolios and personal branding effectively as well as tips and tricks needed by participants in designing their portfolios and personal branding. Furthermore, Bambang Riyanto, S.S., M.Si. also added that the method chosen will explain what Self Marketing, self-promotion, personal branding, social media platforms, characteristics of social media platforms, namely Instagram, and examples of making self-marketing, self-promotion, personal branding and building networking on the internet.
The Principal of Madrasah Al Muntanzir, Dra. Wanrahmah, thanked the presence of lecturers from the Indonesian Literature Study Program at USU who were willing to provide training to students.
"Hopefully this community service activity will have an impact on the awareness of teachers in utilizing digital platforms in a positive direction and can increase the number of students by using the right branding for the madrasah," he said.
Another team member, Dr. Gustianingsih, M.Hum., explained that the timeline for this community service activity consists of four stages, namely socialization, activity preparation, mentoring, and evaluation. The final activity (evaluation) will be scheduled after the semester break.
"We will come to Madrasah Al Muntanzir to see the development of teachers in managing social media after mentoring," added Emma Marsella, S.S., M.Si.
In addition to the USU lecturers who are part of the community service team, three students from the Indonesian Literature Study Program, Faculty of Cultural Sciences Universitas Sumatera Utara were also involved to gain experience outside the campus.
