MEDAN, The Community Service Institute Team of the University of North Sumatra (LPM USU) conducted a community service activity chaired by Indah Revita Saragi, S.Si., M.Si accompanied by Dr. Cut Fatimah Zuhra, S.Si., M.Si, Crystina Simanjuntak, S.Si., M.Si, Suci Aisyah Amaturrahim, S.Si., M.Si, and Ir. Muhammadin Hamid, S.Si., M.Si. In addition, it involved 5 students.
Namely, Gavrylla Gilbert Siregar, Rio Geby Sitompul, Martahan Dapot Rezeki Sitompul, Alya Nazwariva, Inri Antanya Eukasih Br Karo. There were also 2 alumni, namely Abdul Ara, A.Md and M Tegar Aliyu Bangun, A.Md, whose service was located in Bekiung Village, Kuala District, Langkat Regency on Saturday (27/7).
Indah Revita Saragi, S.Si., M.Si said, in this activity, her party implemented the innovation of solar-powered water pumps with automatic water level regulators for efficient rice field irrigation.
According to her, this solar-powered water pump innovation has been known by the community as one of the media to supply water to farmers' rice field irrigation. The ability of this solar-powered water pump plays a very important role for the community during the dry season.
The activity began with a field survey attended by the Head of BumDes, Village Head, Village Secretary, and Head of the Bekiung Village Agricultural Group. Then Brainstorming related to the community service activities that will be carried out.
The Head of Bumdes, Supono, S.T said that the community service activity is a collaboration that is expected to continue so that Bekiung Village can increase community income by utilizing water pump innovations so that it will be easy for the community to irrigate rice fields.
Then the team conducted a visitation to install the innovation of solar-powered water pumps in Bekiung Village.
The Head of Community Service Indah Revita Saragi, S.Si., M.Si hopes that the implementation of this community service activity will rekindle the community's enthusiasm for carrying out activities related to rice field irrigation.
According to him, after completing the installation and testing, thank God it went well.
The Head of Bekiung Village, Suharyadi expressed his gratitude to the USU LPM service team who had listened to the problems of Bekiung Village and provided solutions, hopefully the USU LPM service team and the Bekiung Village community will continue to work together in the next activities. The end of the activity was the handover of the automatic solar-powered pump innovation tool.
