USU LPPM Team Conducts Website Development Training for Kuta Mbelin Village
A team from the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), led by Prof. Syahril Efendi, conducted a training titled "Building an Integrated and Precise Website for Kuta Mbelin Village to Optimize Utilization for Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and Farmer Groups as a Mapping Tool for Village Potential Data." The training took place in Kuta Mbelin Village and was warmly welcomed by the local community.
In his speech, Prof. Syahril Efendi emphasized the importance of digitalization in maximizing the village’s potential. "With an integrated and precise village website, we can utilize technology to advance Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) and farmer groups. This will assist in mapping the village’s potential and improve transparency and accountability," said Prof. Syahril.
The training was attended by village officials, BUMDes management, and representatives of farmer groups from Kuta Mbelin Village. Participants were provided with materials on the basics of website creation and management, as well as how to use the website for data collection and mapping of village potential. Additionally, they were taught how to integrate existing data with various digital platforms to facilitate easier access to information for the community.
One participant expressed enthusiasm about the training. "This training is very helpful for us. We often struggle with data collection and marketing our products. With an integrated village website, we hope it will be easier to manage data and improve the marketing of our products," she said.
The USU LPPM team also presented examples of village websites that have been successfully implemented in other regions as inspiration for the training participants. Through this training, it is hoped that Kuta Mbelin Village can progress and develop further by effectively utilizing information technology.
This training is one of the community service initiatives by USU’s LPPM to support village empowerment and the development of local potential. Moving forward, Prof. Syahril Efendi hopes to continue collaborating with other villages to advance village development through technology-based approaches.
The full-day training concluded with a question-and-answer session and discussions between participants and the USU LPPM team, ensuring that all attendees understood the material presented and were ready to implement it in their villages.
