USU LPPM Votes to Prevent RESTIMUD in Chinese Fur Communities as an Effort to Prevent Stroke

MEDAN - The University of North Sumatra Community Service Institute (LPPM USU) is advocating for Preventing High Risk of Hypertension at a Young Age (RESTIMUD) as a step and effort to prevent stroke among the Bulu Cina community in Hamparan Perak District, Deli Serdang Regency.

The head of the Restimud prevention activities from LPPM USU, Nunung Febriany Sitepu., M.Ners, in his statement said that public health cases in groups in rural and urban areas are not free from disease, this must be voiced as an effort and form prevention.

"Health cases in the community have various kinds of health problems which are certainly not the same. Therefore, this must be immediately addressed and handled on a priority basis for the highest health problems in the area," said Nunung to the media at the USU Campus, Medan, Friday afternoon. (5/7/2024).

"Hypertension is a priority health problem found in service locations, where this non-communicable disease can be caused by today's modern lifestyle such as smoking, drinking alcohol and eating unhygienic food as well as lack of physical activity so that it can make someone not pay attention to their own health. itself and cause disease in the body," he said.

Nunung Febriany continued to explain, when looking at and reviewing the risk factors for PTM, preventive measures are needed as early as possible. Preventive measures that can be taken include education and regular health checks.

"Education on preventing hypertension is really needed, especially at a young age. The incidence of high blood pressure or hypertension in Indonesia is still relatively high, making it a health problem in society. The risk factors that cause hypertension are heart disease and blood vessel disease," explained Nunung

"It is necessary to carry out routine checks so that we can find out whether people have hypertension or not, because from these routine checks we can find out the signs or symptoms of hypertension," he concluded.

This Community Service involved the Bulu Cina Village Government and the local community, where 40 people attended. From the results of this activity, it was found that people cared and began to understand how hypertension could result in fatal complications if it was not detected from the start.

This activity involved 3 lecturers from various disciplines, such as the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Pharmacy USU, chaired by Nunung Febriany Sitepu., M.Ners, whose members were Iwan Rusdi M.Ners., Mariadi M.Sc from the Faculty of Pharmacy and students from the Faculty USU Nursing. (FH)
