DELISERDANG – Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) has once again demonstrated its commitment to community service by holding an activity entitled “Strengthening Character Education to Foster Nationalism”.
This activity was recently held at the Jabal Noor Integrated Islamic Private Middle School (IT), located on Jalan Sunggal Kanan, Sunggal Kanan District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra.
This community service activity was led by Dr. Maulana Andinata Dalimunthe, M.A., and was also attended by three other lecturers from USU who are members of the community service, as well as three USU Communication Science students who were also present and helped make the activity a success.
This community service activity was carried out with the aim of strengthening the character education of students and fostering a sense of nationalism among the younger generation.
“This program was attended by 30 students in grades VII and VIII along with representatives of teachers from Jabal Noor IT Middle School who enthusiastically participated in every session of the activity,” said Maulana, Wednesday (8/29/2024).
The principal of SMP IT Jabal Noor, Chandra Dhika Setiawan, S.Pd, Gr., expressed his gratitude for USU's initiative in organizing this beneficial activity.
"We really appreciate USU's efforts in educating our students about the importance of character and nationalism. This is an important provision for their future," said Chandra.
In addition, the Chairman of the SMP IT Jabal Noor Foundation, Mr. H. Khalid Zulfiqar, S.Tp., was also present and gave his support. He stated that character education is the main pillar in forming a young generation with noble morals and love for the country.
This activity also presented Mr. Aris Suhendar, M.Pd., as a speaker, as well as an observer in the field of Nationalism and Youth. He delivered interesting and interactive material about the importance of having a strong character and high nationalism.
The students were invited to actively participate through discussions and simulations designed to strengthen their understanding of national values. This community service activity is part of USU's annual program which aims to bring the campus closer to the community and provide positive contributions in various aspects of life.
