The Head of the Community Service Team, Josetta, said that this activity aims to improve social skills (empathy, assertiveness and self-regulation) in students of SMP Methodist 1 Medan.

This is a preventive effort to prevent bullying behavior or adolescent bullying which is currently rampant in the school environment.

"The high number of bullying cases that occur in adolescence is a concern for the community. Based on SIMFONI-PPA data in 2023, the highest number of victims of child violence in Indonesia came from the category of teenagers aged 13-17 years. Meanwhile, peers are also one of the highest categories as perpetrators of bullying experienced by teenagers. Other data reveals that educational institutions are ranked third as locations where bullying behavior occurs," he explained while stating that the forms of bullying that are rampant among teenagers include physical bullying including beatings and other acts of aggression carried out individually or in groups.

Verbal Bullying includes physical and financial taunts, words that belittle friends or parents of friends, insults with inappropriate words and intimidating remarks and Cyber Bullying includes taunts carried out by individuals or groups through social media to ostracize other friends.

The form of activity carried out consists of five material sessions. The first session began with a lecture on Bullying presented by Eka Danta Jaya Ginting, MA, Psychologist. Furthermore, the material was continued with social skills training consisting of Empathy, Assertiveness and Self-Regulation. The training was given using role play and games methods facilitated by Rahma Fauzia, M.Psi, Psychologist and Josetta M.R. Tuapattinaja, M.Si, Psychologist.

After the training, students were then invited to develop their creativity by working in groups to develop an anti-violence campaign.
